2020 Ride Announcement
Since the very inception of THE VIPER RIDE™, the most important aspect of everything we do revolves around the safety, comfort, and well-being of our participants; Tailgunners, Pilots, Groundcrew, and Public attendees; veterans and non-veterans alike.
As we announced in mid-March, we have been closely monitoring developments and recommendations surrounding the COVID-19 coronavirus. It is only after much deliberation that we regret to inform everyone of our decision to cancel THE VIPER RIDE PLUS+™ for 2020. This decision was painfully reached after weeks of analysis and is driven by many different factors resulting in risks that simply cannot be mitigated. The fact is that under the current conditions, we cannot adequately ensure the health and safety of all our participants.
We realize this decision will disappoint our faithful tailgunners, pilots, and volunteers. THE VIPER RIDE™ has become a symbolic recapture of mobility for many of our veteran tailgunners. We can assure you that the VIPER leadership team is severely disappointed too! Rather than let it get us down however, we have set our sights on making the 2021 event worthy of the fact that it will be greatly celebrated as the Fifth (5th) Anniversary VIPER Ride. Process improvements are also being identified to make our efforts more efficient and effective.
We invite you to stay involved by watching for news, announcements, and opportunities on our Facebook group page and on our web site. We always welcome input, ideas, and suggestions from our participants.
As we must always do, we will continue to conduct fundraising events in the coming months. Doing so will allow us to continue to deliver a fantastic VIPER RIDE experience at no cost to any of our participants. Please keep an eye out for these fundraising events and please, please, please help us if and when you can. We would love to see you volunteer to help us fund our event. Every dime we raise goes directly to support our ride and our mission.
Thank you for your continued support, and please be safe and healthy!
Best Regards,
TJ Oman & John J. Carter
